As part of the Rock Island Arsenal Chapter of the Association of the United States Army’s 20th Annual Military Charity Golf Tournament, a ceremonial signing of a Statement of Employer Support for National Guard and Reserve Soldiers will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September, 12th, at Glynn’s Creek Golf Course, 290th Street, Long Grove, Iowa. This will take place in conjunction with a wine/cheese tasting event and silent auction in support of the Chapter from 6-8 p.m. SMA Kenneth Preston, 13th Sergeant Major of the Army will preside along with Chapter President, Julie Johnson.
Employer Support of the Guard & Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense program, established in 1972, to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve Component Service members and their civilian employers. Guard and Reserve Service members bring unique talents and skill sets to the civilian workforce and both parties must be aware of their rights and responsibilities under the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployments Rights Act (USERRA). All employers are welcome to attend and will receive a certificate to sign and display in their business along
with the opportunity to have a photograph with SMA Kenneth Preston. The new National Guard ambulance
made at the Rock Island Arsenal Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center will be on hand for photo
opportunities and boasts numerous critical improvements support National Guard efforts in Homeland
Security and national disaster relief missions.
