Title: Accountant
Department: Finance
Reports To: Vice President, Finance
FLSA Status: Exempt
Location: Moline

Summary: The Accountant manages accounting processes for the Quad Cities Chamber under the direction of the Vice President, Finance. He/she demonstrates a high degree of accounting and database systems knowledge and the desire to continually improve processes through the use of technology tools. Essential Duties: Essential job duties for this position include the following items. Other duties must be performed as assigned or required.

• Prepares general ledger account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
• Assists with member invoicing and receipting of payments.
• Processes accounts payable and ensures accurate recording of expenses, including accruals and deferrals.
• Documents financial transactions by entering account information.
• Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
• Secures financial information by completing data base backups.
• Maintains financial security by following internal controls.
• Answers accounting procedure questions as needed.
• Complies with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements.
• Prepares financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
• Managers member database and is responsible for database operations, as well as report writing and distribution.
• Assists with the annual audit, budget, and tax return preparation processes.
• Maintains member confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
• Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Provides excellent customer service to both external and internal customers.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, the individual in this position must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skills and ability required.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field or at least 5 years of related experience in a similar position required.
• At least three (3) years of experience working with accounting and customer database systems.

Equipment and Software Skills:
• QuickBooks
• ChamberMaster
• Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Online Banking and remote capture
• Various online report submission tools
• Must be able to operate standard office equipment, including telephone, calculator, computer, printer, typewriter, fax, and copier.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
• Must possess a valid driver’s license

Language Skills:
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public

Mathematical Skills:
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages

Reasoning Ability:
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions
