About Us

New Kingdom Trailriders (NKT) services the greater Quad City area and surrounding communities by empowering children, adults, and military veterans facing physical, mental, emotional and social challenges to create active healthier, and more fulfilling lives through equine-assisted activities.

NKT provides a welcoming environment of acceptance and encouragement. Each day our instructors work with individuals through therapeutic equine assisted activities that allow them to become more independent. New Kingdom Trailriders’ program helps its participants to build physical strength, balance, confidence, self-esteem, social and communication skills, as well as provides an opportunity to build relationships.

Many of the individuals who participants in New Kingdom Trailriders' program have found considerable improvement in the areas mentioned above. For example, a rider who once was spending 100% of the day in a wheelchair, is now reducing that time by 10% after being part of the program for 30 weeks. A young volunteer has been able to work on her social problems at school by developing confidence. An attribute that was able to be attained through our program and close work with horses. A single mother of a child with autism, was able to find comfort by meeting other mothers and sharing her story, realizing she was not alone. These stories are just a few of the many examples of how New Kingdom Trailriders helps our community. This program is not only about therapeutic horseback riding, but also about creating a support system and empowering those who need it the most.
