Outside the century-old building, it is one-degree above zero on a cracker-crisp, frost-bitten, January morn. 

Inside, in the tiny basement of the aforementioned structure, the temperature is 81 degrees with a humidity of 76 percent.  A white-haired, white-mustached Terry Otten, a well-humored, good-natured soul, stirs the 75-year-old copper pot filled with what many -- including me -- believe is hot fudge gold.
