New York Film Critics Series features pre-release showing of ‘The House of Tomorrow,’ broadcast interviews with filmmaker and cast
DAVENPORT, Iowa (April 19, 2018) — The Putnam aims to be the Quad Cities’ link to the newest independent films with advance showings starting April 24.
The New York Film Critics Series debuts with a pre-release screening of “The House of Tomorrow” and interviews with the film’s cast and director, broadcast from New York to the Putnam Museum and Science Center.
“You shouldn’t have to live in a coastal state to enjoy an early look at the newest indie films,” said Putnam President/CEO Kim Findlay. “Bringing the New York Film Critics Series to the Quad Cities seems to be a natural fit for a community with such a dedicated theater scene and an appreciation for independent media.”
“This is one more way the Putnam strives to bring the community together — by making exclusive movie experiences accessible and helping to light that fire of our cool, creative and connected community.”
Featuring film critic Peter Travers of Rolling Stone Magazine and ABC’s Popcorn, the New York Film Critics Series partners with theaters to present advance screenings of films before they open nationwide and broadcast exclusive interviews in high definition. Only 60 theaters in the country carry the series.
The New York Film Critics Series’ premiere at the Putnam showcases the drama “The House of Tomorrow,” written and directed by Peter Livolsi.
Starring Asa Butterfield, Alex Wolff, Ellen Burstyn and Nick Offerman, “The House of Tomorrow” follows the story of a sheltered 16-year-old (Butterfield) who discovers his world is much bigger than the geodesic dome home tourist attraction where he’s raised. After discovering the world of punk rock, the teen must decide if he wants to become the next Buckminster Fuller, the next Sid Vicious or something else entirely.
“The House of Tomorrow” is based on Peter Bognanni's 2010 young adult novel of the same name.
The Putnam will kick off its inaugural New York Film Critics Series showing April 24 at 6:30 p.m., with drinks available for purchase at the museum’s balcony bar. The presentation starts at 7:30 with a brief pre-show broadcast before the feature film. Post-show interviews will be broadcast after “The House of Tomorrow.”
Tickets to the New York Film Critics Series presentation of “The House of Tomorrow” are available for $10, available at the door or online at
“The House of Tomorrow” is not rated. A trailer for the film is available on the Putnam website.
