Rock Island County Forest Preserve District to host ribbon cutting celebrating facility upgrades and

Rock Island County Forest Preserve District partnered with five local building trades and the Black Hawk College Highway Construction Careers Training Program (HCCTP) to help bring accessibility to Loud Thunder Forest Preserve and Illiniwek Forest Preserve, including ADA-accessible parking lot ramps and sidewalks, as well as a bathroom remodel.
Five local business trades include Laborers Local #309, Cement Masons Local #18, Carpenters Local #166, Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #25, and Bricklayers Local #6.
During the event, members from all collaborating organizations will speak about the vision of this project, and the difference it has made for the students, the journeymen and the community that will benefit from more inclusive public facilities. The Quad City Chamber of Commerce and Quad City Convention and Visitors Bureau will also be in attendance.
When: Friday, May 11 at noon
Where: Loud Thunder Forest Preserve – Martin-Parchert Picnic Pavilion
Directions: From Andalusia Road (RT-92) from the East or West take Loud Thunder Road and proceed into the park, take the first left after you pass Lake George. Stay on the service road and take the next left to arrive at the pavilion.
