SUMMARY:Hub: CAD/CAM Users Group: Business Benefits of 3D Modeling using SolidWorks & MasterCam
DESCRIPTION:Exceptional collaboration between a supplier and its customer is the result of quickly delivering the right information to the right place to drive the right decision. Applying Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) techniques to the collaborative process improves the quality of each design and manufacturing decision across all stages of the product life cycle. \n\n \n\nAs technology is constantly changing and evolving\, new opportunities will come to the businesses that are nimble and can quickly adapt. The Quad Cities Manufacturing Innovation Hub has formed a CAD/CAM Users Group to accelerate our region's learning and investment in collaborative design and manufacturing best practices. The users group will focus on engaged involvement between supplier and customer\, enabled by fast and flexible design and manufacturing processes.\n\n \n\nWhy attend? Hear from local experts about state-of-the-art technology in the digital age and best practices for its use. No matter what your knowledge level\, this night will offer an opportunity to build your understanding of digital collaboration and how it will grow your competitive advantage.\n\n\n\nDuring this month's group\, we will review two significant 3-D modeling CAD/CAM software applications. Presenter Alex Gaskill of Alignex will review the potential impact to your business as you introduce SolidWorks to your design processes\, while Ryan Mermall of Shopware\, Inc. will review potential impact to your business by introducing MasterCam to your manufacturing processes. \n\n \n\nAgenda:\n\n	Introductions and welcome\n	Users group objectives\n	The "Digital Thread Roadmap" handout\n	Guest speaker/topic: \n	\n "Business Benefits of 3D Modeling using SolidWorks & MasterCam"\n \n Alex Gaskill\, Alignex\n Ryan Mermall\, Shopware\, Inc.\n \n \n	\n	\n	Status of regional CAD/CAM playbook (implementation guide) creation\n	Getting connected: 90-sec. "Needs & Leads"\n	Next meeting agenda/where next?\n\n \n\nThis program is presented by the Quad Cities Chamber's Quad Cities Manufacturing Innovation Hub and the Defense Industry Adjustment Program.\n\n\n\nLeading organizations:\n\n\n\nAcknowledgment: This content was prepared as part of the Illinois Defense Industry Adjustment Program\, a partnership between the University of Illinois System\, the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce\, and the Voorhees Center at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC)\, with financial support from the U.S. Department of Defense\, Office of Economic Adjustment (OEA).
