Hill &\; Valley\, Inc.\, 320 44th St. Rock Island\, IL 61201\, will host a ribbon cutting ceremony on August 15th at 12pm. An open house\, including refreshments and plant tours\, will immediately follow until 3pm. The ribbon cutting is in honor of their new facility. \;
Hill &\; Valley\, Inc. was founded in 1986 by George and Nancy Coin as the Rock Island Baking Company. \; Soon after\, the company changed their name to Nancy's Pies. \; In 2005\, Nancy's Pies was purchased by a private equity firm and renamed Hill &\; Valley\, Inc. \;
When given the opportunity to build a new facility\, H&\;V wanted to remain in Rock Island\, knowing that keeping this iconic bakery here would secure the 150+ current jobs at H&\;V\, and ultimately create numerous new positions.
With much help from the City of Rock Island and Renaissance Rock Island\, H&\;V was able to find the perfect location at the site of the former International Harvester Farmall plant\, currently owned by LRC Developers\, Inc. (LRC). \; Construction began at the 44th Street location in April of 2014 by Estes Construction in conjunction with LRC\, and was completed in February of 2015. \; The new facility has given H&\;V the opportunity to increase production capacity\, production flexibility and efficiency\, and expand transportation and warehousing capabilities. \;
