Girl Scouts of Eastern IA and Western IL will host a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Thursday\, September 15 at 4:00pm to showcase major renovations at their camp in New Liberty\, Iowa (just north of I-80 truck stop). \;

The renovations were made to create one central resident-camp property for girls and community members throughout the 38-county council. The 2016 summer camp season proved to be successful with more than 1\,300 girls signed up for sessions- almost double the amount last year. The girls were very excited to try out the new high ropes course and zipline\, as well as ride horses in the new covered equestrian arena.

"The outdoors has always been a cornerstone for teaching leadership in Girl Scouts\," says CEO\, Diane Nelson. "By making necessary updates to the property\, including a lodge and overnight space that can serve girls all year long\, we can deliver additional programs and have a positive impact on more girls throughout the council."
