DESCRIPTION:Vera French Community Mental Health Center will host a ribbon cutting to celebrate their Carol Center Expansion on Thursday\, May 25th at 10:00 am. The celebration will take place at 808 N. Harrison Street in Davenport.\n\n\n\nBegun in the 1980s as the Frontier Program\, Vera French's community outreach and treatment center was renamed the "Carol Center" in memory of a longtime client in 2013. The expansion of Vera French's Carol Center reduces the stigma surrounding mental health services & removes barriers to getting help in Scott County. The Vera French Carol Center offers peer-run drop-in services and in 2021 started a peer-run Clubhouse. With increasing demand following the COVID-19 Pandemic\, more space was needed to serve clients/members in a dignified and confidential way. The expansion being celebrated helps meet this increased demand by adding approximately 2\,000 sq. ft. to Vera French's existing Carol Center and includes the building's first elevator for increased access for those with mobility challenges.
