DESCRIPTION:The Scott County Family Y\, located at 2619 N. Division St. Davenport\, IA 52801\, will host a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday\, August 14th at 5:00 p.m. to celebrate the opening of their new YMCA Early Learning Center.   The Scott County Family Y's licensed child care programs are designed to meet the developmental needs of young children ages 6 weeks through 5 years of age.  They provide experiences that enhance and enrich each child's cognitive\, language\, social\, emotional\, physical and creative development.  Within the center's daily schedule\, each child has opportunities to create\, to explore the environment\, to develop problem solving and personal interaction skills and to develop concepts through experiences.   Children develop a positive self-concept through a balance of self-directed activities and teacher-assisted activities. Staff serve as positive role models and provide care that is supportive\, nurturing\, warm and responsive to each child's needs.  Lesson plans and informational letters are shared with parents weekly.  This allows parents to become even more involved in their child's classroom experience.  The Scott County Family Y operates under all licensing regulations set forth by the State of Iowa's Quality Rating System.  In addition\, they have implemented criteria from the National Association for the Education of Young Child\, as well as guidelines developed by the YMCA of the USA.
