The first event will feature opening remarks from Chamber Board Chair\, Cathy Edwards and a legislative preview from Iowa state Senator Chris Cournoyer and Illinois state Representative Tony McCombie. Jake Ford\, Director of Government Affairs will discuss the Chamber's 2021 Regional Advocacy Priorities and the upcoming sessions with Representative McCombie and Senator Cournoyer. There will be time for Q&A.\nMeet our speakers:\n\n\n\nIowa State Senator Chris Cournoyer (R)\n\nIowa 49th Senate District\n\n\n\nAs a small business owner\, mother of four children\, substitute teacher\, member of the Iowa Governor's STEM Council\, President of the Quad City Engineering & Science Council\, former president of the Pleasant Valley Community School Board\, and reserve deputy for the Scott County Sheriff's Department\, Senator Chris Cournoyer is passionate about strengthening our economy\, our schools and our communities.\n\nSenator Cournoyer has a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science from the University of Texas. After college\, she worked as a senior consultant in the Technology Division at Andersen Consulting\, serving in the Ecommerce Community of Practice. Since 1997\, Senator Cournoyer has worked as a self-employed website designer and developer. Recently\, she got her substitute authorization and is helping with the substitute teacher shortage in school districts in her area.\n\n\n\n\n\nIllinois State Representative Tony McCombie (R)\n\nIllinois 71st District\n\n\n\nTony McCombie was born and raised in Savanna\, Ill. She received a BA from Western Illinois University. Tony is currently a small businesswoman\, operating Blue Appraisals and self-employed in the real estate industry as a broker with MelFoster Company. She formerly served as the Mayor of Savanna\, Ill.\, and as a Savanna Councilwoman.
