The Trade Adjustment Assistance for Firm (TAAF) Federal Grant Program is available to all manufacturing firms in the United States in industries that have seen imports negatively impact their business.  \n\n\n\nThis technical assistance funds program is a cost-sharing match that provides up to 75% of funding for up to $30\,000 in funds and 50% of funding for up to $150\,000 in projects designed to improve a firm?s competitiveness.\n\n\n\nTo qualify for funding\, a firm must demonstrate a slight decline (minimum 5%) in employment and sales over a recent 12-month period time versus the previous 12-month period.  The definition of manufacturing for this program is very broad. Allen\, Contract Project Manager\n\nMid-American Trade Adjustment Assistance Center\n\n\n\nMark Allen has been working in small business his entire career.  After graduating from the University of Kansas\, Mark went to work as a commodities trader on the Chicago Board of Trade\, where he served as a commodities trader for the lumber industry. He started his own brokerage company at age 24 and grew it to include a chain of building materials distribution centers\, employing over 400 people with operations in 17 states. \n\n\n\nAfter selling that company in 2002\, he has dedicated his working career to helping small business owners to grow and expand their businesses. His firm\, WRS Solutions\, works with the Small Business Development Center networks in Missouri\, Iowa\, and Kansas\, and the U.S. Economic Development Administration to educate and connect business owners to finances and resources. \n\n\n\n\n\nJack Dye\, Vice-President\n\nApplied Strategies International\, Ltd.\n\n\n\nJack Dye is the Assistant Director of the MidWest TAAC office and Vice President of the non-profit firm contracted to administer the grant program for Illinois\, Wisconsin\, and Minnesota. He has been a part of the Trade Adjustment Assistance for Firms grant program for over 13 years. He has worked with hundreds of companies to qualify for the grant\, develop a plan to spend the funding\, and implement projects for each client.
