VP Mortgage and Consumer Loan Manager

The Mortgage & Consumer Loan Manager is responsible for the management and direction of lending operations for Mortgage and Consumer Lending business lines across all markets. This position leads and develops the origination of loans and oversees lending functions, including underwriting, processing, closing, and funding. The position is accountable for overseeing product development, project management, strategy, data management, training, and the implementation and ongoing review of policy, procedures, and guidelines.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Strive to simplify loan procedures and processes, provide excellent service to lenders, and create long-term value by streamlining the origination process and originating loans in a cost-effective manner with improved quality and productivity
  • Underwrite complex loans, employee transactions and perform second level reviews as necessary
  • Ensures adherence to policies, guidelines, and procedures as well as compliance regulations (HMDA, TILA, RESPA, HOEPA, FCRA and ECOA) and credit guidelines and policies
  • Produces management reports associated with loan origination such as productivity reports, pipeline reports, trend reports and progress reporting
  • Continuously develop strategies and measurements to meet customer credit needs, increase loan growth and profitability opportunities while minimizing risk of loss to the bank
  • Responsible for the overall quality of the residential and consumer loan portfolio and profitability of the department. Establishes department goals and objectives and monitors to assure ongoing conformity with Bank objectives
  • Encourages the growth and professional development of staff through daily coaching and loan training programs on the bank’s guidelines, policies, and procedures
  • Provides underwriting and exception approval for complex loans, employee loans and second level reviews for Mortgage and Consumer
  • Recommends marketing strategies, new products, and pricing to Senior Management
  • Manages the operations process from application, underwriting, processing, and closing to ensure accurate and efficient preparation of loan documents for Loan Officers
  • Provides communications and correspondence to Mortgage and Consumer Lenders concerning compliance, documentation, loan policy, loan guidelines, and pricing
  • Monitors the Loan Exception Report to ensure corrective action has been taken and exceptions are resolved
  • Oversees administration for the Encompass, LaserPro and Decision Pro programs
  • Oversees reviews of loan applications which are denied by Loan Officers and ensures processes for all Adverse Action notices for Consumer and Mortgage requests to stay in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Identifies and implements process improvements, as well as, participating in bank wide projects that affect Mortgage and Consumer Lending. Communicates to all departments within the bank to determine efficiencies that can improve overall processes
  • Manages all processes of Mortgage and Consumer Lending and collaborates with Senior Management to monitor the overall credit risk of the portfolio. This includes application processing, underwriting and credit scoring, documentation, collateral perfection, and the servicing of all loans
  • Reviews and recommends changes to bank policies and guidelines
  • Keeps current with changes (regulatory, etc.) and trends related to the industry and ensures lending compliance
  • Conducts ongoing analysis of the loan portfolios to identify, manage and monitor credit risk trends and changes that need to be made
  • Works with external auditors along with examiners on the review of the loan portfolio and reviews and responds to issues identified in audit and regulatory reports
  • Manages and develops relationships with third party vendors
