Job Description:
APPOINTMENT: Full-time, continuous 12-month position, May 1, 2023, start date.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The admissions counselor is responsible for cultivating new student interest in the BGS Degree Program. This includes visiting partner institutions, conducting community outreach on behalf of the program, and holding individual admissions appointments with potential students. The position will also provide support for international students interested in the program and maintain the BGS program's social media accounts. This position is based at WIU-Quad Cities in Moline.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: This position reports to the faculty director of the BGS Degree Program who reports to the Dean of Libraries who reports to the Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs. This position collaborates with areas coordinated by the Vice President of Quad Cities Campus Operations, including the Quad Cities Outreach Team. This position also works with the School of Graduate Studies staff on international student admissions.
RANK & SALARY: Admissions Counselor. Minimum salary of $3,207 per month. Negotiable, commensurate with experience. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree
• Ability to work evenings and weekends
• Ability to work with diverse populations
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Valid driver's license
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master's degree
• Experience in recruitment and event planning/program development
• Recent experience working in higher education admissions
• Bi-lingual (Spanish-English)
For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body). Unless otherwise stated, the degree must be "in hand" at the time of appointment.

THE DEPARTMENT: The Bachelor of Arts in General Studies is WIU's premier academic program for non-traditional students. With over 10,000 alumni and nearly 250 current students it is also one of the institution's largest academic degree programs. The degree is available on both campuses and online. The BGS team includes a faculty director, one full-time academic advisor in Macomb, one part-time academic advisor in the Quad Cities, and two admissions/records staff in Macomb. Academics

Student Resources

Football competes in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision through the Missouri Valley Football Conference; all other varsity sports compete at the Division I level through The Summit League
