Job Description:

 

APPOINTMENT: Tenure-track appointment beginning July (preferred) or August 2023

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: This position incorporates the administrative operations and oversight of the activities of the WIU Cybersecurity Center (WIU-CC) with a tenure-track faculty appointment. Along with those duties specific to the WIU-CC, the successful candidate will assume a range of responsibilities including (but not limited to): teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in cybersecurity, computer science, and/or information systems; participating in broad-based university, college and departmental committee work; producing quality scholarship and participating in professional activities in the field. The successful candidate will receive release time to assist in securing, maintaining, and overseeing the CAE-CD designation (currently in process, Cycle 8), grant preparation, curriculum development, and oversight of the WIU-CC. The Center Director's responsibilities include corporate liaison, professional, and community outreach activities.

 

This is a nine-month full-time tenure track appointment with a guaranteed 1.0 FTE summer appointment.

Requirements:

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Earned doctorate in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field. For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body).

 

Strong leadership and communication skills, and a strong desire to play a lead role in the oversight of CAE-CD designation, grant preparation, and the WIU Cybersecurity Center, including outreach activities.

 

Demonstrated high-quality research agenda and a strong teaching record that includes cybersecurity areas; mentoring of students.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Preference may be given to candidates with previous experience relating to CAE-CD designation or acquiring or maintaining accreditations. Candidates should also demonstrate a willingness to develop and deliver innovative courses in cybersecurity.

 

For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body). Unless otherwise stated, the degree must be "in hand" at the time of appointment.

THE DEPARTMENT: The School of Computer Sciences offers a B.S. and an M.S. in Computer Science, a B.S. in Information Systems at Macomb and Moline, and a B.S. in Cybersecurity. The faculty of 20 members serves approximately 250 undergraduate majors and 450 graduate majors.
