About Us

Project NOW, Inc. is a community action agency serving Rock Island, Henry, and Mercer Counties that strengthens the Quad Cities region by helping people help themselves and one another. Project NOW strives to eliminate the causes of poverty through strategic partnerships and to alleviate the negative conditions where low-income individuals and families live. The agency addresses issues of poverty and aging through a comprehensive continuum of services, including Head Start kindergarten readiness for 200 preschool children, utility and food assistance, homeless services, rent and deposit assistance, eviction and youth diversion, and permanent, safe, affordable housing. Additional supports include emergency needs assistance such as dental care and car repairs, emergency furnace repair and replacement, and weatherization services that improve home safety and efficiency. Project NOW also serves more than 3,000 seniors annually with home-delivered meals, congregate meal sites, information and assistance, and door-to-door transportation, as well as operating the Rock Island County Rural Transportation program, which offers on-demand public transportation for a small fee. As one of more than 1,000 community action agencies created out of the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 and the nation’s War on Poverty, Project NOW brings proven, locally focused anti-poverty solutions to nearly every corner of the Quad Cities area.
