About Us
The Rock Island County Forest Preserve District consists of 6 parks and preserves totaling 2,529 acres throughout Rock Island County. Illiniwek & Loud Thunder Forest Preserve offer camping, fishing, trails, shelter rentals, playgrounds and scenic views of the Mississippi River. Loud Thunder also has a boat rental operation on Lake George and equestrian facilities. Indian Bluff Golf Course is a premier parkland 18 hole golf facility that plays to a par 70 at almost 6,000 yards for men and a par 71 for the ladies at 4,550 yards. The course has native areas and public use areas with a daily use fee picnic pavilion for private events. Niabi Zoo gives visitors from the Quad Cities and beyond an opportunity to explore more than 40 acres of animal exhibits, including more than 140 species from Africa, Australia, Asia, and North America . As part of its mission, the zoo strives to connect the community with the natural world through conservation leadership and engaging educational experiences. Through its exhibits, educational programs, outreach efforts, field trips and more, the Zoo strives to instill a sense of care and understanding for wild animals in both children and adults.
