About Us

Empower House is a community that provides empowerment for a more purposeful life after brain injury. We are Iowa's only brain injury Clubhouse and provide a wide range of services to brain injury survivors in the Quad Cities and surrounding areas.

We serve adults 18 and older who have survived any form of brain injury, including but not limited to, a stroke, fall, concussion, seizure, infection, or TBI.

Our programming focuses on purposeful engagement for our members- allowing space and opportunity for survivors to thrive to reach their full potential. The Clubhouse operates around a "work-ordered day" which is comprised of business, kitchen, and maintenance units where the operations of our organization are completed by members, staff, and volunteers alike. Everyone is recognized for their strengths and contributes in the ways they find meaningful.

We also provide wellness and leisure services, including monthly social nights for members and families, monthly music group, weekly exercise group, Drums Alive, and weekly card club.

In addition, we offer brain injury support services such as Brain Injury Coping Skills (BICS) group, Self Advocacy for Independent Living (SAIL) group, Eastern Iowa Support Group, and Brain Injury Fundamentals Trainings for community members.

We collaborate with a number of local and statewide organizations, including the Brain Injury Alliance of Iowa, Common Chord, Senior Star, Rock Valley Physical Therapy, St. Ambrose University, and MercyOne Genesis.

We are proud to offer three unique services lines offered nowhere else in the state of Iowa.
