Ceremonial Groundbreaking -Vera Frenc...
Description
The Vera French Foundation will host a ceremonial groundbreaking on Friday, April 19, 2024 at 9:00am. This event will take place at the Vera French Clinic at Central Park at 1441 W. Central Park Avenue in Davenport. This will be held in the north parking lot located at the corner of West Central Park Avenue (east-west) and Washington Street (north-south).
- The Vera French Clinic at Central Park (VF Clinic at Central Park) opened in 1971 and its overall footprint has remained virtually unchanged for over 53 years. During that time, more than 50,000 community members have made hundreds of thousands of visits to the our historic clinic. Although the VF Clinic at Central Park complied with accessibility standards when it was constructed, requirements today seek to give access for a broader population and Vera French is seeing more and more people seeking help with their mental health. Vera French is ensuring ready access to mental health services for everyone in the community that we serve, including people with mobility challenges. The building is also showing its age in other ways and is in need of structural improvements to safeguard its useful life as a community mental health center for decades into the future.
Our expansion and modernization serve many important purposes, including
1 - Enhancing Vera French’s ability to safely and effectively see new clients through Same Day Access (SDA).
2 - Configuring the front entrance of the building to make the building accessible to those with mobility challenges.
3 - Assist Vera French with the capital-intensive facilities maintenance and reinvestment projects which will extend the VF Clinic at Central Park's useful life for another 25+ years.
We believe our project is important for several reasons, including:
1 - Physical Accessibility For More People Courageously Facing Mental Illness.
2 - It Will Allow Our Psychiatrist and ARNPs To Safely and Effectively See More Patients.
3 - Positive, Dignified, and Trauma-Informed Experiences Foster the Critical Momentum of Recovery.
4 - Enhanced Population Health and
5 - Positive Economic Impact From Construction
