Description
The Department of Labor released new regulations regarding the classification of salaried jobs, raising the threshold from $23,660 to $47,476 annually. This workshop will help businesses in our region understand the impact and how to be in compliance with the new overtime rule.
Panelists:
Hugh Cain, Hopkins & Huebner, P.C. Hugh has advised and litigated cases for Iowa private employers and local governments on a wide variety of employment, civil rights, safety, and wage issues. He has negotiated collective bargaining agreements and assisted local government boards with governance, open meetings, and open records issues. Hugh is a shareholder at Hopkins & Huebner, P.C. A graduate of the University of Washington School of Law, he has practiced in the state and federal courts of Iowa since 1983, and primarily works in employment and local government law.

Linda has more than 30 years of human resource experience crossing different industries and union as well as nonunion environments. A native of the Quad Cities of Illinois/Iowa, she has served as a human resource manager in health care, manufacturing, and warehouse distribution.
Linda's broad experience includes administering diversity training to employees at multiple facilities and managing, recruiting, and on-boarding all staff for a hospital with 1,200 employees. She has also improved processes and communication flow between HR and managers/departments by implementing new procedures for employment applications, performance appraisals, and payroll. She has assisted managers with interviewing, employment law, disciplinary action, and performance appraisals.
