Executives Club Special Event Featuring Lieutenant General Mick Bednarek Commanding General First Army Friday, August 5 i wireless Center 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. Join us for this Executives Club Special Event, open to all members of the Quad Cities Chamber and the community as we welcome the First Army to our region. Lt. Gen. Mick Bednarek, featured speaker, will present a high-level overview of who First Army is and what they do. Lt. Bednareck's Bio: Lt. Gen. Bednarek assumed command of First Army April 6, 2011. in London, England, Lt. Gen. Mick Bednarek graduated from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and later completed a Masters Degree in Personal Management. His military education includes Infantry Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Underwater Operations (SCUBA) Course, Military Free Fall Course, the Command and General Staff College, and the U.S. Army War College. He has served in a variety of command and staff positions in the United States, Europe, and Iraq including commanding the 25th infantry Division (Light), Schofield Barracks, Hawaii and First Army Division-East Fort Meade, Maryland prior to assuming command of First Army. Lt. Gen. Bednarek's awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit (5OLC), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (5OLC), Army Commendation Medal (2OLC), the Army Achievement Medal, the Valorous Unit Award, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, and the Army Superior Unit Award. He has also earned the Combat Action Badge, the Expert Infantryman's Badge, the Master Parachutists Badge, the Pathfinder Badge, the Freefall Badge, the Scuba Diver Badge, and the Ranger Tab.
