Description

Roles & Responsibilities of a Data Management Program
Presented by Brent Wilke, Data Management Director, Heartland Financial

Organizations make the mistake of mixing and confusing team roles within data-driven projects and the data management program. This can result in overload of responsibilities assigned to staff or the program. For example, data scientists are often tasked with finding, organizing, cleaning, sorting, and/or moving data, which is a misuse of their capabilities. The solution can be as simple as assigning roles, responsibilities and defined training to the data management organization and the enterprise such as Data Scientist, Data Engineer, Data Analyst, Data Management Director, and Data Consumer, and then define where they can apply their trade in the organization’s data-driven model. We'll also have a short discussion on data management roles, responsibilities, and skills.

About our speaker
Brent Wilke has over 25 years of experience in information technology with the last 15 in some form of analytics/data warehousing. Brent has been in a leadership role in creating three healthcare data warehouses, one financial data warehouse, and a number of advanced analytic environments. He has had experience across North America in such lines of business as health care; health, life, and auto insurance; banking, and retail. He has led teams supporting such areas as business intelligence, data transformation, advanced analytics, and predictive modeling. Brent currently is the Data Management Director for a financial holding company, is a former Naval Officer, and is an active member of the U.S. Lacrosse Organization.

About the Data Analytics Users Group
Key regional leaders in manufacturing and the Department of Defense supply chain have identified the use of data analytics as an important technology impacting our region's competitiveness. To accelerate our region’s learning and investment, the Quad Cities Manufacturing and Innovation Hub has formed a Data Analytics Users Group for members to discuss and leverage their knowledge regarding this particular technology.

Why attend? Hear from local experts regarding state-of-the-art technologies instrumental in analytics and best practices for their use. No matter what your knowledge level, this night will offer an opportunity to build your understanding of this evolving skill set and its business benefits.
This program is presented by the Quad Cities Chamber's Quad Cities Manufacturing Innovation Hub and the Illinois Defense Industry Adjustment Program.
