How the SBA Can Help You Compete for Federal Procurement Opportunities
Presented by:
Mr. Steven Szalo
Procurement Center Representative, Small Business Administration
Mr. Steven A. Szalo is the Procurement Center Representative (PCR) for contracting activities in Area IV of the Small Business Administration (SBA), which includes Army Contracting Command-Rock Island, US Army Corp of Engineers-Rock Island, Army Sustainment Command, Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center Rock Island, Veteran's Hospital Iowa City and the National Guard in Des Moines. He is responsible for assuring that small business concerns have a fair and equitable opportunity to compete for Federal procurement opportunities and that a fair proportion of the total sales of government property is made to small business concerns.
Join him at this educational session to learn about local areas of focus, including:
- Building a small business base capable of sustaining competition among contractors to keep contracting dollars local
- Credit card buys to local small businesses for JMTC and RIA Garrison
- Subcontracting opportunities for small businesses to work for Prime Contractors having large dollar government contracts
- Building local prime contractors to compete for Simplified Contracts set aside for small businesses.
- Developing local small businesses to compete for large dollar government contracts
- Develop small local small businesses to joint-venture or teaming with entry-level small businesses to learn the ropes of government contracting
Prior to becoming the PCR at the Rock Island Arsenal, Mr. Szalo was a DAWIA Level III Contract Specialist for Eagle Contracting at Army Contracting Command-Rock Island.
Mr. Szalo graduated with a Master of Business Administration from Liberty University and is a retired Navy Chief Petty Officer.
