Professional and Personal Goal Setting with Fred Smith, Spirit Partners, Inc.
When done correctly effectively, goal setting can unleash the hope of opportunity and the power of action. Setting goals that are meaningful and relevant not only make people more likely to achieve the goals they set, but also helps them feel energized and have greater sense of satisfaction while pursuing their goals. This interactive session offers participants an insight into how to set AND achieve both personal and professional goals. By doing so they can focus their energy, sustain motivation, and increase the likelihood of achieving successful outcomes.
About the Speaker:
Mr. Frederick L. Smith is currently President and Managing Partner of Spirit Partners, Inc., providing consulting, facilitation, and training services to a wide range of organizations.
Mr. Smith is a retired federal government employee, having accrued 31 years of service. His primary area of expertise was strategic planning and industrial base management where he led numerous strategic planning efforts and orchestrated several large organizational redesigns. He also designed and implemented a strategic management process for a 22,000-person industrial organization and developed business strategies and alliances with industry that led to some of the first public/private partnerships in the Department of Defense.
Just prior to his retirement, Mr. Smith headed an Industrial Base Management Office responsible for transforming five of the government's large, independently operated industrial plants into a unified, effective $2.0 billion enterprise through a combination of internal efficiencies and external reforms. He successfully championed legislative changes and major financial reforms that provided a more business-like environment. His final assignment was the oversight of production of armor protection kits for HMMWVs and armored cabs for five-ton trucks at seven industrial facilities across the country.
Mr. Smith is a renowned speaker, having frequently presented briefings at major conferences and symposiums. He has frequently briefed Congressmen, professional and personal staffers, industry executives, community leaders, and the media.
Mr. Smith is currently an adjunct faculty member at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa, teaching Master-level courses in Planning Strategically, Decision-Making, and Building Effective Teams. He also conducts numerous training venues for academia, government, industry, and non-profit organizations.
Mr. Smith has been featured in several publications, including Government Executive magazine and has been published in the Army Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology magazine.
Mr. Smith was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Indiana, Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and earned a Master of Organizational Leadership from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa.
