In recognition of the incredible work that so many community members are contributing, we're announcing awards for Business of the Year and Regional Champion of Change.
It's a day of celebration that all dedicated Quad Citizens won't want to miss!
Keynote Speaker:
Louis L. Reed
National Advocacy and Campaigns Director, Fines and Fees Justice Center
Disruptive Thinking: The Business Imperative for Inclusion and Innovation
Louis L. Reed will make the case for businesses to focus on implementing diversity and inclusion practices in the workplace, for the benefit of all stakeholders. Reed will highlight the changing demographics of the workforce and why it's important for businesses to reflect the diversity of our communities, as well as the potential negative impact of homogeneous workforces, including a lack of innovation and reduced competitiveness. Learn the advantages companies can reap from adopting a hiring process that supports bringing on diverse employees, including the LGBTQ+ community, people with criminal records, mothers, immigrants and more. Reed will offer approaches in overcoming these challenges so that businesses can begin increasing engagement, creativity, innovation and customer satisfaction.
Reed serves as Fines and Fees Justice Center's National Advocacy and Campaigns Director. As one of the country’s leading figures in the field of social impact, Louis brings years of experience and expertise in government, criminal justice reform, policy advocacy, public health and personal impact. Having spent nearly 14 years in federal prison and several years on supervision, his leadership led to the passage of more than 30 state and federal level bills, including the historic First Step Act in 2018. Louis’s public policy outcomes have created a pathway to freedom for 650,000+ people affected by the criminal justice system.
Reporting to the Deputy Executive Director, Louis is principally responsible for managing the National Advocacy and Campaigns team and working with and/or leading national coalitions that address fines and fees reform, and for providing assistance to institutions, organizations and individuals who seek FFJC’s expertise on fines and fees reform across the country.
Prior to FFJC, Louis served as Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships for REFORM Alliance, and as Director of Membership and Organizing for Dream Corps Justice (formerly #cut50). Louis is an award-winning author, a commentator on the Law & Crime Network, a licensed and board-certified addictions practitioner, and producer of Hulu’s UnPrisoned series.
