LivWell CARES Delivers More Than 1,400 Holiday Meals to Low-Income Seniors

Quad Cities, IA/IL — The gift of a warm meal is reaching hundreds of local seniors this holiday season thanks to the LivWell CARES Meal Delivery Program. The program will provide more than 1,400 meals to low-income seniors in the Quad Cities on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day.

LivWell CARES has partnered with 25 volunteer drivers to ensure seniors receive nutritious, comforting meals during the holidays—when isolation and food insecurity can be especially challenging. The meals are prepared by Sodexo, the food service company at St. Ambrose University, and made possible through the generosity of more than 20 local companies and individual donors who helped cover meal costs.

“Many of the seniors we serve would otherwise spend the holidays alone without a hot meal,” said Gwen Tombergs, Senior Holiday Meals Chair. “This program is about dignity, connection, and making sure no one is forgotten.”

LivWell CARES is a Quad Cities–based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides free, reliable, and comprehensive information and referral services to low-income seniors navigating the complex world of eldercare. Services include guidance on senior-related financial and legal issues, eligibility for resources, and placement in senior apartments, assisted living, long-term care, skilled nursing facilities, and home care services.
