The Group Obstetrics & Gynecology Specialists, P.C., and Rock Valley Physical Therapy combine forces to better women’s health

Two of the Quad Cities’ finest and longest-serving healthcare entities have aligned
to better serve the needs of women across the two-state region.

Rock Valley Physical Therapy, founded in 1984 and featuring 60-plus clinics across Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota, will open a clinic within The Group Obstetrics & Gynecology Specialists, P.C., providing pelvic floor therapy and related physical therapy services exclusively for women in its office, located at 5350 Eastern Ave., Davenport, Iowa.  Jill Cappaert, PT, DPT, CMT, OCS, will serve as clinic manager.

Since 1978, The Group has been dedicated to caring for women through every stage of life, from adolescence and pregnancy to postpartum care, midlife, and beyond. Its mission has always been to provide compassionate, comprehensive, and forward-thinking care that evolves alongside the needs of the women it serves.

Bringing pelvic floor therapy into the practice is a natural extension of that mission and reflects The Group’s belief that women deserve access to specialized care in a setting they know and trust.

“This partnership began organically when both organizations recognized their shared values and commitment to excellent care,” said Mike Horsfield, PT, MPT, MBA, OCS, Rock Valley Physical Therapy’s Chief Executive Officer. “That mutual respect and shared commitment to excellence made this partnership with The Group an easy decision.”

Leaders from The Group say they were drawn to Rock Valley Physical Therapy for its outstanding reputation for clinical excellence, proven outcomes in pelvic floor rehabilitation, and patient-centered philosophy that closely mirrors that of The Group.

“Integrating physical therapy services within our trusted, female-patient-only clinical environment enhances the overall patient experience by promoting comfort, privacy, and continuity of care,’’ said The Group’s Dr. Shirley Hinshaw. “When women can receive specialized pelvic floor therapy in the same setting where they already feel at ease, it removes barriers and fosters greater confidence in seeking treatment. By scheduling physical therapy appointments before patients leave our office, we provide faster access to care and eliminate many of the delays that can occur with outside referrals. This seamless approach ensures our patients receive the timely, coordinated support they deserve.”

Horsfield celebrated the work of Rock Valley Physical Therapy’s Morgan Terveer, PT, DPT, OCS, Clinic Manager at Rock Valley’s Dexter Court (Davenport) site for bringing the idea to light. Terveer, a patient of The Group, helped spark the partnership by building relationships between the two organizations.

“I'm excited to see the widespread impact of the combined efforts of the providers at The Group and Rock Valley to help educate women that many of their symptoms have solutions so they can live their best possible lives,’’ said Terveer.

This partnership reflects a shared belief that pelvic floor therapy is not a luxury, but an essential part of women’s healthcare. By collaborating, Rock Valley and The Group are removing barriers to access and creating a more holistic, supportive, and patient-focused model.

“Pelvic floor concerns affect so many women during pregnancy, postpartum, and throughout their lives,’’ said Dr. Ashley Kaiser. “Partnering with Rock Valley Physical Therapy allows us to offer a more complete and coordinated approach to care, all in one place. Their expertise in pelvic floor rehabilitation and patient-centered philosophy align seamlessly with our mission, and we are excited to bring this important service directly to the women we serve.”
