Recharge and Renew: Self-Care Event Supports Dementia Caregivers in the Quad Cities

DAVENPORT, Iowa — Caring for a loved one with dementia is a profound act of love, but it can also take a physical and emotional toll. To support those carrying this responsibility, LivWell Seniors and Meadowview of Davenport are co-hosting Recharge and Renew: Self-Care for Dementia Caregivers, an educational and supportive event designed specifically for dementia caregivers.

The event will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Meadowview of Davenport, located at 5330 Belle Ave, Davenport, IA 52807-1296.

This encouraging, judgment-free session will provide caregivers with practical tools to help them continue caring for their loved ones—without losing sight of their own well-being. Attendees will learn how to spot stress early, incorporate simple daily self-care habits that restore energy, and access community resources that can help lighten the caregiving load. The program will also include guidance on creating a sustainable care plan that protects the caregiver’s health as much as the needs of the person they support.

To remove a common barrier to attendance, caregivers are welcome to bring their loved one with dementia. During the session, participants’ loved ones will enjoy Music Bingo led by the Meadowview Activities Team, eliminating the need to arrange separate respite care.

“Caregivers so often put themselves last,” said Erica Schroeder-Cerda from LivWell Seniors. “This event is about reminding them that their health matters, too—and that support is available.”
