Join us as Mr. Matthew Sannito, Deputy to the Commanding General for Army Sustainment Command and Colonel Todd J. Allison, Garrison Commander of U.S. Army Garrison Rock Island Arsenal provide an update to the community on the Rock Island Arsenal. Discussion will include:

  • Rock Island Arsenal’s support to COVID-19
  • Updates on how the Army Sustainment Command has been providing modernization reform all around the globe

Meet Our Speakers:
 
Mr. Matthew L. Sannito
Deputy to the Commanding General
 
Mr. Matthew Sannito assumed the responsibility of Deputy to the Commanding General in November 2019. He was selected to the Senior Executive Service in March 2018.  
 
As Deputy to the Commanding General, Mr. Sannito leads and directs the Command’s global sustainment mission that encompasses a workforce of approximately 500 Soldiers, 7,400 civilians, and 40,000 contractors. Army Sustainment Command links strategic and operational sustainment capabilities to tactical units, integrates and synchronizes materiel distribution, and enables Army readiness.
 
Prior to assuming this role, Mr. Sannito was the Executive Director for Support Operations. His portfolio included Army Prepositioned Stocks, Logistics Readiness Centers, Equipping Readiness, Direct Theater Support, Logistics Assistance Program, Joint Personnel Property Shipping Offices, Theater Provided Equipment, Pre-Deployment Training Equipment, Army Airlift Clearance Authority, Authorized Stockage List Analysis; Army Oil Analysis Program, PS Magazine, Packaging, Storage, and Containerization Center, and Acquisition/Contract Management.
 
Mr. Sannito served as Deputy of the Distribution Management Center from 2015 to 2017. From 2010 to 2015, he served as the Deputy Executive Director for the Logistics Civil Augmentation Program. From 2008 to 2011, he served as Deputy Director of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Logistics Activity.
 
Mr. Sannito is a Distinguished Graduate of the Army War College with a master’s degree in Strategic Studies, master’s degree in Logistics Management from Florida Institute of Technology; and dual BA degrees in Finance and Management from Loras College.

Mr. Sannito’s principal awards include the Superior Civilian Service Award, numerous Meritorious Civilian Service Medals, the Civilian Service Commendation Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Medal and the Army Superior Unit Award.
 
 
Colonel Todd J. Allison, Garrison Commander of U.S. Army Garrison Rock Island Arsenal
 
 Colonel Todd J. Allison, Garrison Commander of U.S. Army Garrison Rock Island Arsenal, was commissioned as a Quartermaster Officer after graduating from University of Pittsburgh with a BS degree in Economics. Following the Quartermaster Officer Basic Course, he was assigned to 530th Supply and Services Battalion (Airborne) at Fort Bragg, North Carolina where he served as a Platoon Leader and Company Executive Officer in various Supply and Aerial Delivery (Rigger) units including a deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan in 2001-2002.

COL Allison then attended the Combined Logistics Captain’s Career Course at Fort Lee, Virginia. Upon graduation, he was assigned to the 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado and later Fort Hood, Texas. During his almost six years assigned to the Regiment, COL Allison served as Company Command of the Supply and Transportation Troop and in numerous key staff positions as a Captain and Major between 2003 and 2009 culminating in three deployments to Iraq totaling 35 months in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. COL Allison then attended Naval Command and Staff College at Newport, Rhode Island.

In 2010, COL Allison was assigned to the US Pacific Command in Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii where he served as a logistics planner and executive officer to the Director for Logistics, Engineering and Security Cooperation. In 2014 he was assigned to the 8th Theater Sustainment Command at Fort Shafter, Hawaii where he served as the Chief of Commander’s Initiative Group for the Commanding General.

In June 2017 COL Allison assumed command of the 8th Special Troops Battalion at Fort Shafter, Hawaii. During his time in command, his Battalion supported numerous Joint and Army exercises through the Pacific to include Pacific Pathways 2015 and 2016 and Combined Joint Logistics Over the Shore (CJLOTS) Exercise 2015 and 2017 on the Korean Peninsula.

After battalion command COL Allison completed his Service Senior College as the United States Army War College Visiting Defense Fellow to Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario Canada. COL Allison went on to serve as the ACoS/G4 for the First Cavalry Division, Fort Hood Texas. His most recent assignment was as the Deputy Chief of Staff, G5 (Chief of Plans) for the Army Sustainment Command.

His civilian education includes a Master’s Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the US Naval War College and completion of Joint Professional Military Education Level II from the Joint and Combined Warfighting (JCWS) School at the Joint Forces Staff College.

His awards include Bronze Star (3OLC), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2OLC), Army Commendation Medal, Senior Parachutist Badge and Rigger Badge.
