Description
Is your Iowa business in need of money to develop your innovative technology? Or is looking for a way to connect with possible investors? Then plan to attend the upcoming workshop, “Introduction to the Small Business Innovation Research Program: Free Money to Develop Your Innovative Technology,” held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 7 at the Hilton Garden Inn, 959 Middle Road, Bettendorf.
The Small Business Innovation Research and Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) Outreach Program is designed to increase the rate of successful grant applications for Iowa’s innovative businesses seeking federal grants through the Small Business Administration’s SBIR/STTR programs. The Federal SBIR/STTR programs award more than $2.6 billion in high-risk R&D funding annually to qualified small businesses. The process is complex with a steep learning curve, but the impact of receiving millions in non-dilutive funding is worth the effort!
During the workshop guest presenter Jordon Hobfill, Statewide SBIR/STTR Coordinator, will cover all aspects of writing SBIR/STTR grants focused on the NSF including:
- eligibility/qualifications
- sources of funding
- agency differences
- understanding what reviewers look for
- how to find a principal investigator
- examples of successful Iowa companies
- available Iowa support programs
