Growing your network is hard work, but critical for business success. It is a little more complex than showing up and sharing a business card with others in the room. Your message matters. Showing up and Speaking up matters. Clear communication can make the difference between making a positive lasting impression or being forgettable. As we navigate the difficulties our businesses are currently facing, relationships and connections can be game changers in developing a successful outcome. Join us for this session where we will discuss the art of showing up, connecting and growing your network, one seed at a time. You will be challenged to think outside of the box and look at each connection as a new possibility. Continental breakfast included.

Supply Chain & Supplier Scouting | CIRAS
Melissa Burant of CIRAS started her career working for the Department of Defense in procurement. She spent 15 years in the federal market, with the bulk of her career spent in contracting. Her most notable contribution while working for the Army was supporting contingency operations in Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan, responsible for purchasing services ranging from laundry to security operations. In 2014, Melissa joined CIRAS Iowa State University, where she was able to use her knowledge of government processes, systems and regulations to help businesses. She currently assists businesses in solving supply chain issues and cybersecurity compliance. She is passionate about helping others and connecting people to the tools they need to be successful. During her time at CIRAS, her biggest take-away has been the sheer power of the networks we create, and how important it is to cultivate them by planting the seeds.
