Description
The Quad Cities Chamber’s Professional Development Program
Presents
“Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership”
The “Five Practices” are based on the research of James Kouzes and Barry Posner, authors of The Leadership Challenge. Ginny Wilson-Peters of Integrity Integrated will identify the practices of extraordinary leaders based on research and interviews with leaders at all levels of an organization—from CEOs to individual contributors. The material is designed to show how anyone can make a positive difference in their organization and is applicable to young professionals new to their careers and seasoned leaders alike.
The practices include:
· Modeling the Way – titles may be granted but leadership must be earned, authentic leadership, personal leadership style.
· Inspiring a Shared Vision – enlist others in your dream by appealing to shared aspirations and creating a shared vision of the future.
· Challenging the Process – the work of leaders is change, leaders seek innovative ways to change, grow, and improve, often by challenging the status quo.
· Empowering Others to Act – foster collaboration by promoting cooperative goals and building trust.
· Encouraging the Heart – recognizing contributions, providing feedback, celebrating the victories, and rewarding efforts.
Participants will complete a self-assessment to measure their competency in the five practices and then Ginny will present information about the Leadership Challenge and each of the practices. Attendees will leave the training with a clear understanding of the difference between management and leadership, specific tools for implementing each of the five proven leadership practices, and a personalized leadership action plan for their future development.
