Customer Service Representative (CSR) / Garden Center Associate
Hours: Full-Time With Benefits– Approximately 32-40 hours per week
Location: On-site (Garden Center & Office)
Job Summary
The Customer Service Representative (CSR) / Garden Center Associate, our first impressionist, plays a key role in supporting both the landscape services division and the retail garden center. This position is responsible for delivering excellent customer service, maintaining accurate customer records, coordinating communication with clients regarding landscape work, and assisting with garden center operations. The ideal candidate is friendly, outgoing, knowledgeable in plant care, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced, seasonal environment.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Communication
• Answer incoming phone calls and emails in a professional and friendly manner
• Contact customers to notify them of scheduled landscape work, updates, and completion status
• Provide accurate information to customers regarding plants, products, and services
• Maintain a positive customer experience both in person and over the phone
CRM & Administrative Duties
• Maintain and update CRM software daily with accurate customer information, notes, and job statuses
• Track customer communications, work schedules, and follow-ups
• Perform general office and administrative support tasks as needed
Garden Center Sales & Plant Care
• Assist customers with plant selection, including annuals and perennials, and provide plant care recommendations
• Maintain knowledge of plant varieties, seasonal availability, and care requirements
• Perform seasonal plant-related duties including watering, deadheading, spacing, labeling, and general plant maintenance
• Assist with receiving, stocking, and displaying plants and garden merchandise
• Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the garden center retail space
Marketing & Promotions
• Design and update sales flyers, signage, and basic promotional materials
• Assist with seasonal promotions and merchandising displays
Vendor & Team Coordination
• Work with local vendors regarding plant availability, orders, and deliveries
• Communicate with landscape crews, management, and sales staff to ensure smooth daily operations
Qualifications & Requirements
• Knowledgeable in plants, including annuals and perennials, with the ability to advise customers confidently
• Willingness to take on seasonal plant-related responsibilities as business needs change
• Valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record
• Friendly, outgoing personality with strong customer service skills
• Proficient in Google Docs and Google Sheets
• Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat and humidity, rain, dust, noise, and cold
• Ability to walk, stand, crouch, and remain on feet for extended periods
• Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks and lift/carry up to 30–40 lbs
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to multitask and work independently
• Previous customer service, retail, or garden center experience preferred
Schedule & Availability
- Approximately 32 - 40 hours per week
- Weekend availability required
- Spring & Summer: Must be available to work at least one weekend day
- Fall & Winter: Closed Sundays
