We’re looking for a dedicated individual that enjoys collaborating on projects with a multidisciplined firm. Klingner is adding a Transportation Engineer to their team in the Burlington, Iowa office. This job is ideal for a candidate that has roadway, freeway, street, and bridge design experience for local, county, and state infrastructure projects. Our candidate should value and recognize the importance of design accuracy and the importance they play in a multidisciplined firm like Klingner. Work days will primarily be working in the office, as well as working on job sites.
Responsibilities:
- Primary duties include roadway design, ADA ramp design, signalized and roundabout intersection design, geometric studies, intersection design studies, traffic studies, traffic management analyses, cost estimating, and traffic staging plans.
- Excellent candidates will be required to develop site layouts, grading and drainage designs, as well as the development of utility, site preparation and demolition, soil erosion and sedimentation control, and construction detail plans.
- In addition to Department of Transportation projects, this engineer will often provide designs for municipalities and county highway departments.
- This engineer will often work in project types that include public municipal facilities, public and private school projects, and private development sites including multi-residential, mixed use and commercial properties.
- Candidates must be familiar with the development of roadway design in accordance with IaDOT requirements.
- Excellent documentation skills, thorough communication with fellow staff members, as well as various construction team and client representatives.
- Coordinate with office staff members, clients, and other key stakeholders.
- Responsibility to complete tasks as required.
- This position is full-time.
Qualifications:
- Qualified applicants must be licensed Professional Engineers, hold a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering, and have experience working with the Iowa Department of Transportation.
- Proficiency with Open Roads is a plus.
- Must be able to work independently or with others in a safe, organized, and productive manner.
- Must be able to work with others as a team in a friendly and acceptable manner.
- Must be dependable, trustworthy, and an ethical individual with great work ethic.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
- Clear written and verbal communication.
- Organizing, prioritizing, and performing work assignments with minimal supervision.
