Console Monitor-Part-time

General Information & Responsibilities

 

The Console Monitor is responsible for the system which controls energy, fire, and security points at the Quad Cities Campus.

Hours are 2nd Shift 2:30 pm thru 11:00 pm - Saturday, Sunday, Holidays and as needed 

 

Description of Duties

 

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
a.      Responsible for operating the Metasys System including CPU-401 Basic Head-end, Annunciator Command Terminal and printer; responsible for familiarity with primary processing, communications/transmission, field processing, systems manual, and DSP-401 operator's manual.
b.      Responsible for reviewing trouble calls through shift and responding to same, plus logging of hourly readings and reviewing same.
c.      Extracts information from the system or command a point within the system to perform its logical function.
d.      Attends operator's school as needed to learn programming of the system and other pertinent data necessary to operate the system, and to interpret and convert data into meaningful assignments for the system.
e.      Responsible for keeping a close visual watch on the above-mentioned areas, and the equipment therein is to be observed on each shift and repairs made as needed.
f.       Responsible for keeping log books up-to-date and current.

DESCRIPTION OF OTHER DUTIES:

  1. Responsible for providing backup, night-time, and weekend telephone answering service to the College; takes and forwards messages to the appropriate person.
  2. Responsible for keeping control area and the boiler room including equipment, pipe fittings, air shafts, return air housings, electrical room, etc., clean as assigned by the Facilities Superintendent.
  3. Responsible for assisting in performing repairs of equipment and painting as needed.
  4. Responsible for working first, second, or third shift as scheduled.
  5. Responsible for performing other job-related duties as assigned.

PRINCIPAL WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:  

a.    Works directly with the Facilities Superintendent.

b.    Works cooperatively with other Console and HVAC staff.

c.    Works cooperatively with the College Police to provide maximum communication and safety to all personnel on campus.  

d.    Works cooperatively with custodial staff to ensure safety and security of entire plant.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
a.       High school diploma or recognized equivalent.
b.       Six months computer experience including Microsoft Office required.
c.       Ability to occasionally lift 50 pounds required.
d.       Ability to become familiar with password access required as follows:
          (1) Systems access, fire/security command;
          (2) HVAC command;     
          (3) Fire/security information;
          (4) HVAC information.
e.       Must be in good physical health; completely dependable, with a past work record that indicates reliability and dependability; and able to react calmly in case of an emergency.
