Position Summary: The Director, Human Resources plays a critical role in maintaining the image and effectiveness of the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce. This position maintains human resources systems, employee onboarding/offboarding, works collaboratively with the CFO on the structure of employee benefits and is responsible for organizational adherence to policy and procedures as well as Federal and State employment law compliance. The Director, Human Resources maintains strict confidentiality related to employee matters. In addition, the Director, Human Resources is responsible for tracking employee benefits and working on bi-weekly payroll processing. This position reports to the CFO.
 
Essential Duties: Essential job duties for this position include the following items. Other duties must be performed as assigned or required.
 
  • Proactively coordinates employee training
  • Responsible for review of organizational policies and evaluates the administration of organizational policies
  • Assists in coordinating, organizing, preparing documents and taking minutes for Board, council, and committee meetings. Maintains attendance records, minutes and official documents for such meetings.
  • Maintains Board portal, OnBoard.
  • Serves as back-up to bi-weekly payroll processing
  • Oversees completion of job postings, background checks, archiving personnel records, onboarding and offboarding.
  • Oversees maintenance of iSolved HR and payroll software.
  • Serves as backup for the administrative functions of the organization, such as day-to-day office needs and supply ordering
  • Maintains office and staff engagement budget
  • Develop and monitor overall HR strategies, initiatives, systems, tactics and procedures
  • Oversee and manage a performance review system
  • Maintain pay plan and benefits program
  • Bridge management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances or other issues
  • Provides excellent customer service to both external and internal customers
  • Participates annually to advance the Chamber’s DEI strategy.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, the individual in this position must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skills and ability required.
 
Education/Experience:
Associate Degree from an accredited college in a related field and at least Three (3) of equivalent experience in a similar role, or a similar combination of education and experience
 
Equipment and Software Skills:
Proficiency in Adobe and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Power Point.
Ability to operate standard office equipment, including telephone, telephone conference features, calculator, computer, printer, typewriter, fax, projector, and copier.
Ability to set up virtual conferencing, such as Zoom and Teams, and use Outlook to reserve meeting rooms for power point presentations via projector and laptops, including Internet connection.
Proven ability to type with high degree of accuracy at a minimum of 60 wpm.
 
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable or have reliable transportation to and from work
 
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
 
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages
 
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
