Registration remains open for the inaugural Quad Cities Board Connections event that will take place September 15 at John Deere World Headquarters in Moline. More than 200 nonprofit leaders and corporate professionals have already registered. The event will connect community-minded professionals with nonprofit organizations focused on planning for the future.
 
Organized by the Quad Cities Community Foundation and sponsored by John Deere, Board Connections is a space for nonprofit executives, board leaders, and professionals interested in serving on nonprofit boards, committees, and advisory groups to network and identify opportunities for future leadership and service roles.  
 
“Seeing this level of response tells us there is real energy and urgency around building the next generation of nonprofit and civic leadership,” said Sue Hafkemeyer, president and CEO of the Community Foundation. “People are looking for ways to connect their talents and passions with meaningful opportunities, and nonprofits are looking to build relationships with people who can help carry their missions forward. Board Connections creates a place for those conversations to happen.”
 
The event builds on the Harris Center’s Strong Board Governance Series, which prepares current and aspiring board members and nonprofit leaders for effective board service. Many professionals attending Board Connections are participating in or have participated in the series as they explore opportunities for deeper community involvement.
 
John Deere is serving as the presenting sponsor of the inaugural event. The company’s support reflects an interest in helping employees and other professionals develop leadership experience while strengthening nonprofit organizations across the region.

The September 15 event will take place from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the John Deere World Headquarters display floor at One John Deere Place in Moline. As a recurring series, Quad Cities Board Connections will continue to create opportunities for professionals and nonprofit organizations to connect around board and committee service and other forms of civic leadership.
