Description
In a world of profiling, predicting when customers are pregnant, capturing license plate information from health clinic parking lots, we are all "the product". While analytics and data science can be technically challenging, the biggest roadblock to success results from our lack of confidence in trying to answer the very human question: "Should we be doing this?" In this hour, Dr. Dan Conway will give us a look at a framework and repeatable process for addressing this question. The goal is to make ethical reasoning an integral part of all analytics efforts, so that we are not just confident that yes, we should be doing this, but we are emboldened to be great at it. Dr. Daniel Conway recently finished his role as Professor in Residence at Cisco Systems. He serves on faculty at Notre Dame, University of South Florida, and Loras College, and has been a past faculty member at Northwestern, Indiana University, VA Tech, University of FL, and Iowa. He's on the INFORMS Analytics Maturity Model board, program committee of the SAE IoT effort, and columnist for Cognitive World. He is active in consulting for information security plus healthcare, agriculture, and supply chain analytics. Outside of work, he is married with seven children and plays jazz piano.
