Macomb Director, Center for Best Practices in Early Childhood Education (60%); Start Date: October1, 2024

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration of daily operations of the Center for Best Practices in Early Childhood Education. In overseeing the daily operations of the Center, the successful candidate will oversee its various grant-related projects; be responsible for all personnel matters; serve as either primary or secondary fiscal agent and oversee budget matters; be responsible for all required report writing; oversee grant-related product development, publication, and distribution.

• Oversee the LADDERS, Parent Mentor, and Providers Connection grants, as well as newly acquired grants to the CBPECE
• Serve as Personnel Manager (direct, hire, and evaluate CBPECE personnel)
• Serve as Budget Director (oversee budgets and assist with planning and creation of each grant year's budget)
• Serve as the Key Grant Writer (direct the grant writing team throughout the grant writing process; direct the writing and submission of yearly reports)
• Serve as a liaison between the Center, various WIU offices, and funding agencies
• Serve as an advocate as appropriate in educational spaces, including ISBE, Gateways, and other educational organizations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. A Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education (or related area).
2. A minimum of 3 years working in Birth to 2nd Grade contexts, within or outside public schools
3. Evidence of experience with writing and administering grants
4. Experience in a leadership capacity, directing and overseeing personnel and strategic planning

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Master's degree or doctorate in Early Childhood

2. Proven track record of funded state or federal grants
2. Experience as an Early Care and Education Administrator/Lead Teacher

3. Experience in Pre-K-12 school administration

4. Spanish Bilingual

Academics

More than 61 undergraduate degree programs, 41 graduate programs, two doctoral programs and 16 post-baccaulaureate certificate programs prepare students for a successful career after graduation.

Student Resources

More than 200 student organizations at Western provide social, academic, recreation, athletics, service, academic, and many other opportunities for students to grow and learn, develop leadership skills, and much more.
