Director, Downtown Services- DDP
DIRECTOR, DOWNTOWN SERVICES DDP
Love Downtown Davenport? Ready to make an impact you can actually see?
The Downtown Davenport Partnership (DDP) is looking for a Director, Downtown Services to lead the people, programs and partnerships that help keep downtown Davenport clean, welcoming, vibrant and moving forward.
This is not a sit-behind-a-desk kind of leadership role. Approximately 70% of your time will be spent throughout the downtown district, working alongside the Ambassador team, monitoring district conditions, connecting with businesses and community partners, and turning big picture priorities into results you can see on the ground.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
As Director, Downtown Services, you'll oversee the day-to-day delivery of DDP's public-realm services and provide leadership to the Downtown Ambassador team. You'll be responsible for:
- Leading the Ambassador team, including scheduling, coaching, training and performance oversight.
- Keeping downtown looking its best by overseeing cleaning, beautification, graffiti removal, snow removal, parking ramp and Skybridge cleaning, pocket-park maintenance and other DDP services.
- Managing resources and results, including budgets, labor and contract expenses, vendors, equipment, supplies, technology and service-performance reporting.
- Building strong community partnerships with City Public Works, public-safety and social-service partners, downtown businesses, property owners and other stakeholders.
- Solving problems in real time and responding creatively to unexpected conditions and challenges throughout the district.
- Supporting downtown events and activations by coordinating staff, equipment and resources for outdoor programming, seasonal activities and district festivals.
- Leading improvements to the downtown environment, including minor capital projects, tactical urbanism and outdoor infrastructure updates.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We're looking for someone who is comfortable leading from the field, building relationships and tackling whatever the day brings. An ideal candidate will bring:
- A bachelor's degree in public administration, operations management, urban planning, hospitality, facilities management or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and relevant experience.
- Three or more years of related experience.
- Strong organizational, time-management and follow-through skills.
- Experience coaching, training and supervising employees.
- The ability to build effective relationships internally and throughout the community.
- Experience monitoring budgets, expenses and labor costs.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Availability to occasionally work early mornings, evenings, weekends or holidays.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to be insured.
- The ability to operate a skid-loader or willingness to complete training.
THIS ROLE IS A GREAT FIT IF YOU
- Like being out in the community instead of behind a desk all day.
- Enjoy leading people and helping a team succeed.
- Notice the details others might walk past.
- Can balance daily problem-solving with bigger-picture priorities.
- Are comfortable building relationships with businesses, community partners and public agencies.
- Want your work to make a visible difference in Downtown Davenport.
