Job Description
Under the direction of the TRIO Program Director, provides comprehensive academic and personal support services to TRIO Student Support Services participants. Emphasizes social-emotional intelligence, problem-solving, and attention to detail in supporting a diverse student population, including first-generation, low-income, and students with disabilities. Assists the TRIO program in meeting federally mandated performance objectives related to enrollment, GPA, retention, graduation, and transfer.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse student population, including first-generation, low-income, and students with disabilities. Strong social-emotional intelligence and the ability to build rapport with students are required. Proven problem-solving abilities and attention to detail required. Experience in academic advising, transfer/articulation, counseling, social work, and/or career exploration preferred. Computer literacy skills are required for program documentation and federal reporting. A strong commitment to equity, student success, and the mission of a comprehensive community college is required.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. occasionally, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
1. Provide holistic academic, transfer, and career advising to TRIO participants, addressing academic progress and personal development.
2. Build strong, supportive relationships with students using culturally responsive and student-centered advising practices.
3. Use effective problem-solving strategies to assist students in navigating academic, personal, and institutional challenges.
4. Deliver one-on-one coaching in study skills, test preparation, time management, goal setting, and college knowledge.
5. Plan and facilitate workshops and presentations on financial literacy, transfer planning, career exploration, writing skills, and technical literacy.
6. Assist students in exploring careers and academic majors using approved career assessment tools and resources.
7. Connect students with campus and community resources to support academic success, persistence, and well-being.
8. Monitor, track, and report student progress toward retention, graduation, and transfer outcomes; implement targeted interventions as needed.
9. Maintain accurate and timely records in compliance with federal TRIO regulations and U.S. Department of Education requirements.
10. Assist with planning, coordinating, and chaperoning college transfer visits, cultural enrichment activities, and engagement events.
11. Collaborate with faculty, staff, and community partners to strengthen student support networks.
12. Participate in TRIO program planning, implementation, assessment, and continuous improvement activities.
13. Attend at least one U.S. Department of Education-approved TRIO Priority Training annually.
14. Is committed to providing quality service that meets or exceeds the expectations of internal and external customers.
15. Other duties as assigned.
