Reporting to the Vice President for Student Success, the Assistant Vice President of Admissions and Enrollment Support leads all aspects of Western Illinois University's undergraduate recruitment efforts. The Assistant Vice President of Admissions and Enrollment Support is a key leader on both an institutional and divisional level, driving strategic enrollment priorities and shaping the new student onboarding experience. The position oversees recruitment and of traditional undergraduate students, post-traditional students, international students, and other special populations. The position supervises a large, dynamic team focused on WIU's recruitment and student onboarding success. The role works directly with WIU's senior leadership team, including the Provost, Deans, and other University-wide leaders.

 

Duties Include:

Strategic Leadership

 

• Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive student recruitment plan for undergraduate students which includes, inquiry pool development, outreach (events, college fairs, high school visits), connections with strategic high school and community college partners, digital marketing and communication strategies, effective use of CRM and new technologies, campus visit experiences, programs, and correspondence.

• Provide leadership, management, and support for the efforts of the Office of Admissions, Global Studies, and New Student and Family Programs and develops a competent, productive and effective staff by hiring and supervising, directly and through delegation, the administrative, professional, student and clerical support personnel in the Office of Admissions.

• Directly supervise full-time staff of various levels, including 3-4 director/deputy director level positions, 3-4 associate director positions, and additional staff as needed.

• Effectively utilize University resources in accomplishing enrollment objectives by planning, developing, and controlling the departmental budget.

• Oversee the processing of new student applications for freshman and transfer students.

 

Data-Driven Decision Making

 

• Develop data-driven recruitment strategies by effectively utilizing data from a variety of sources to evaluate student characteristics and trends, as well as the University's market position and competition.

• Create, analyze, evaluate, and communicate admissions and enrollment data and develop new reports to further refine institutional understanding of data. Implement new strategies as a result.

 

Collaboration and Campus Engagement

 

• Actively lead and participate in student recruitment activities, including on-campus visit experiences, site visits, group experiences, and off-campus recruitment events.

• Lead effort to develop institution-wide recruitment focuses, including developing and implementing trainings, best practices, and new efforts for faculty, staff, alumni, and campus-partners.

• Chairs and participates in campus committees regarding recruitment and enrollment efforts. Coordinates effectively with academic and administrative units across campus, including deans, department heads, directors, and others to achieve enrollment goals.

• Represent the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and other associated functions of the Division of Student Success and the University to external constituencies, internal groups, and through service on various University committees.

 

Salary: $8,052 to $10,000 per month / $96,618 to $120,000 per year, commensurate with experience. 12-month, 100% appointment.

Job Requirements:

The successful candidate will possess a master's degree in education administration, student affairs, or a related field and at least seven years of progressively responsible experience in admissions or enrollment management.

 

The Assistant Vice President must have a comprehensive knowledge of state, regional, and national recruitment trends. The AVP must also be a change agent willing to experiment and innovate in strategy and decision-making to impact new student recruitment and enrollment, and not be beholden to the way things have been done.

 

This position requires both broad oversight and a hands-on management style. The incumbent should have experience and knowledge of best practices in student recruitment, including a CRM, and an ability to create and analyze data. The position is expected to offer innovation in strategy and decision-making to impact new student enrollment.

 

The person in this position will be expected to work with constituencies both internal and external and display a high degree of professionalism and enthusiasm for Western.
