The Dean provides district-wide leadership for the faculty, academic programs, and transfer pathways in the Health Programs Division. This Division includes both Nursing and the Allied Health Programs. The Dean represents the Health Programs Division both internally and externally, serving as an advocate for innovative curriculum and high-quality learning experiences. This position conducts systematic assessment of academic programs, departments, and student learning. The Dean supports EICC’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion by promoting equitable and inclusive environments for learners and employees. This position is responsible for strategic plans, allocation of resources (budget, staff, and equipment), the overall organization and design of the Health Programs Division. The Dean works collaboratively across all divisions to plan, problem solve, and support the mission of EICC. This position is a member of the Academic Learning Council (ALC) and EICC’s Leadership Team.
 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Master’s degree required in an academic discipline, higher education, or other relevant administrative field
 
· Demonstrated knowledge of teaching and learning excellence
 
· Experience in leading an academic organization OR in a leadership role aligned with the requirements of the Dean position
 
· Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
 
· Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across multiple modalities, especially with individuals of diverse backgrounds and perspectives

DESIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
· Ability to use data and technology to manage enrollment, class schedules, faculty workload, and space/facilities planning
 
· Ability to execute and manage operational plans
 
· Demonstrated ability to balance competing priorities, work independently, and supervise faculty and programs across a multi-college district (adaptability and flexibility are key characteristics for this position)


 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· A working knowledge of curriculum development, instructional planning, and assessment of student learning
 
· A working knowledge of 3rd party accrediting as it relates to health programs
 
· Experience teaching and/or leading in a community college
 
· Doctorate degree
 
· Experience in supervising faculty and staff
 
· Knowledge of best practices in areas related to the division
 
· Experience writing and/or managing grants
 
· Knowledge of accreditation and continuous quality improvement
 
Physical Demands
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. occasionally, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Salary $90,000 - $99,000
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide all aspects of supervision to faculty, staff, and department coordinators within the division, including recruitment, hiring, evaluation, promotion, transfer, retention, and disciplinary/separation processes.
  • Establish a clear vision of the division’s programs and educational trainings based on economic data, workforce development goals, and student enrollment trends.
  • Maintain knowledge of new trends and innovations in community college and higher education.
  • Develop and implement guided pathways to improve completion, graduation, and employment/transfer for all students.
  • Ensure high quality instruction in all modalities (in collaboration with all academic deans).
  • Oversees course and faculty scheduling to maximize efficiencies and meet the changing needs of diverse students.
  • Hold CTE program advisory committee meetings to ensure alignment of curriculum and program outcomes with industry standards.
  • Support faculty by making data-informed decisions regarding courses and programs to improve student outcomes (retention and completion, student assessments, program review, etc.).
  • Ensure that student retention efforts successfully promote completion of student academic goals.
  • Support and advance the strategic plan, academic plan, and departmental plans.
  • Develops, oversees, analyzes, and makes budget decisions that align with the college’s strategic plans and priorities.
  • Manage student conduct and complaints.
  • Leverage data needed to make sound decisions.
  • Collaborate in the development of external partnerships, including K12, universities, employers, and community organizations.
  • Promote equity and inclusion within programs and the larger academic institution to foster success for all students and members of the college community.
  • Develop, revise, and adhere to EICC policies and procedures.
  • Engage in collaborative leadership, committees, and workgroups across the college.
  • Maintain a commitment to the college mission, vision and values.
  • Represent the Academic Affairs division at the assigned college/campus and support the daily management of that location.
  • Lead and manage special projects as assigned by the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
  • Provide support to those charged with assessment and accreditation efforts for the College.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
