Job Description:

APPOINTMENT: August 15, 2024

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Serve as an instructor of Musical Theatre/Accompanist.
• Provides musical support/accompaniment for scene study, vocal and audition preparation classes, and rehearsals/performances.
• Team teach Musical Theatre studio classes and solo teach the musicianship skills for Musical Theatre courses.

RANK & SALARY: Instructor, 9-month appointment. Salary competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master's degree or comparable educational or professional experience.
• Candidates should possess exceptional piano skills, specifically in relation to musical theatre.
• Strong background in musical theatre, and intimate familiarity with the production process.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• A faculty and student advocate who exhibits the following: Master of Music, Concentration in Piano Performance.

For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body). Unless otherwise stated, the degree must be conferred at the time of appointment.

THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Theatre and Dance offers a BA in Theatre with options in performance and production/design, the BFA in Musical Theatre, and the MFA in acting, directing, design, or technical direction and minors in Dance, Stage Combat and Theatre. A Department Chair, fourteen faculty members, a costume supervisor, and an office manager serve approximately 60 undergraduate majors and 25 graduate students. Three theatres (proscenium, thrust, and flexible) are used for theatre productions. Construction is underway on our new $119 million Center for Performing Arts, with a completion date of August 2025. The CPA will be the crown jewel in the region and provide opportunities for our students, patrons, and the entire region. The Department of Theatre and Dance is NAST-accredited and will be undergoing re-accreditation during the 2026 academic year.
